Smart 911 Is Online in Union County
Smart911 is a program provided by Rave Mobile Safety and funded by the State of Arkansas that allows citizens to provide critical information to first responders in an emergency.
Under the current E911 system, the only information provided to first responders is the phone number you are calling from and your general location. In the event of a medical emergency, where the caller may lose consciousness, or in the event of a fire or criminal activity where communications may be lost, first responders may not be able to respond appropriately to an emergency. There are also situations where a person, particularly the elderly, may become disoriented and wander away from home.
With Smart911, citizens can create a safety profile that can assist first responders with a variety of information that they otherwise wouldn't have access to. The information is provided by you, and can be tailored to fit yours and your family's needs. The information that you provide is instantly available to 911 dispatchers and can dispatch the appropriate personnel to respond to emergency situations. For example, if you have food allergies and are able to dial 911 but are unable to speak due to an allergic reaction, a notation of your allergies in your profile will allow medical personnel to respond appropriately. If a family member becomes lost, you can attach a photo of the family member, as well as a physical description, so that responders can begin searching for them immediately. You can even attach information about your pets so that responders can assist all members of your family during a fire or weather-related emergency. You may also assosciate a cell phone number to your profile so that your information can be made available, regardless which phone you call from.
Smart911 is available to all citizens in Union County at no additional cost, and it generally takes less than 5 minutes per family member to create the profile. The time that is saved with the additional information that you provided can help save lives. Participation is voluntary, and your information is protected and will only be made available by placing an emergency call to 911.
