Woman arrested in death of husband
By KELI JACOBI News-Times Staff A Lawson woman has been charged in the shooting death of her husband following an apparent altercation Wednesday morning at their home, according to Union County Sheriff Ken Jones.
Debra Ann Johnson, 47, of 1516 Rhodes Chapel Road, is in custody in Union County Jail pending her fi rst appearance in district court today. Her husband, Danny Johnson, 57, was found with gunshot wounds to his upper torso area, said Jones, and died during transfer to Medical Center of South Arkansas.
Jones said deputies with the sheriff’s offi ce responded to a 9-1-1 call around 11 a.m. We dnesday at Rhodes Chapel Road, but were uncertain who placed the call.
It was still too early in the investigation Wednesday to determine how many times the victim had been shot, but a revolver may have been used in the shooting and the altercation between husband and wife reportedly started in their vehicle in front of their home on Rhodes Chapel Road, according to Jones.
The investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the prosecuting attorney’s offi ce for a decision on formal charges, Jones said.
