Smackover man arrested in drug bust
By KELI JACOBI News-T imes Staff Authorities arrested a Smackover man allegedly running a major drug operation from his Lisbon Road residence, after fi nding a signifi cant quantity of drugs, fi rearms and cash during a Tuesday morning drug bust, according to Union County Sheriff Ken Jones.
Franklin D. Davidson, 43, faces charges of maintaining a drug premises, simultaneous possession of drugs and fi re arms, possession of a fi rearm by a certain person and pos session of a controlled sub stance (crack cocaine) with intent to deliver. He is being held in custody pending his fi rst appearance in district court today.
Offi cials from the Union County Sheriff’s Offi ce, Smackover Police Department and the Arkansas State Police executed the search warrant following a two-month surveillance of Davidson’s home, said Jones.
At least one pound of crack cocaine packaged for quick distribution and more than $2,000 cash was found, Jones said. Deputies also seized several fi rearms, including a .22-caliber semi-automatic rifl e. "This is defi nitely one of the larger cases we’ve dealt with in a while," said Jones. "We consider him a major drug dealer."
