Farewell Receptions for Three Departing Deputies
Three long time employees of the Union County Sheriff's Office have recently left employment of the department. Captain Clark Burton, Lt. James Bishop, and Inv. Steven Vestal have all decided to pursue interests outside of law enforcement and will be missed.

Inmate Mail Policy
Starting on March 1, 2012, you will be seeing “Return to sender” on letters you send to inmates in our county jail. Beginning on March 1, our Detention Center inmates will only be allowed to receive postcards from the outside world. This is only for incoming mail and will not apply to legal or outgoing mail. All inmates will still be able to receive legal mail and will be able to mail regular letters to their family and friends.

On Sunday, January 22, 2012, at approximately 900pm, the Sheriff's Office received information that Donald Hux, wanted for the abduction of his ex-wife, Amy Huckabee, and sought in connection with a capital murder warrant, had switched vehicles. The caller gave a description of the vehicle and deputies, along with task force officers, responded to the area where the vehicle was last seen.

On January 22, 2012 in the early morning hours, the Union County Sheriffs Office responded to call regarding a possible kidnapping. After taking information from the complaint, deputies learned that Donald Hux had abducted his x-wife, Amy Huckabee, and their three children in Arkadelphia Arkansas.
Blood Drive
On Tuesday, November 22, LifeShare Blood Centers sponsored a blood drive at the Union County Sheriff's Office from 10:00am-2:00pm. Over 15 deputies and employees participated in the event. People across the country are thankful this time of year for blood doners, and we are happy and honored to do our part to help save lives in our community.

Retirement of Johnnie Mitchell
Congratulations to Ofc. Johnnie Mitchell on his retirement. Ofc. Mitchell has been the maintenance officer in the Union County Detention Center for the past 5 years, and has volunteered many additional hours as a member of the Union County Sheriff's Office Reserve Unit. Prior to coming to the Sheriff's Office, Ofc. Mitchell owned his own business for many years.
The deputies and staff of the Union County Sheriff's Office appreciate everything that Ofc. Mitchell has contributed to the people of Union County over the years. Congratulations, Mr. Johnnie, and best wishes!!
Visitation Rules Change
Effective October 1, 2011, we will begin using an authorized visitation list for all visitors. It will be the detainee's responsibility to add or remove visitors from his or her visitation list. Please make sure that the next time that you talk to or visit a detainee at this facility, that he or she has submitted a visitation request form in order for you to continue visiting that detainee.
Any person that is not on that detainee's visitation list will not be allowed to visit that detainee.
