Crack Cocaine
Juan Reyes
As it has been a while since someone posted, I thought that I would post a few photos that I have taken locally dealing with Crack Cocaine.

Here is some background from the ONDCP.
http://www.whiteh...index.html
Pure cocaine was first used in the 1880s as a local anesthetic in eye, nose, and throat surgeries because of its ability to provide anesthesia as well as to constrict blood vessels and limit bleeding. Many of its therapeutic applications are now obsolete due to the development of safer drugs.1

Approximately 100 years after cocaine entered into use, a new variation of the substance emerged. This substance, crack, became enormously popular in the mid-1980s due in part to its almost immediate high and the fact that it is inexpensive to produce and buy.2

Crack is a highly addictive form of cocaine that is typically smoked. The term "crack" refers to the crackling sound heard when the substance is heated, presumably from the sodium bicarbonate that is used in the production of crack.

Ever have your car antanae torn off. Maybe they were making a crack pipe?

The tape or rubber end is where the mouth would go on the pipe. The other is stuffed with a metal Chore Boy or brillo pad.

These are around $20.00 each. All four of them were less than the width of a quarter. This is what crack cocaine looks like most commonly here.

And here is crack from a laboratory or somewhere - this is not a photo I took.

These are glass crack pipes. You can see the white residue inside them along with the burnt brillow pad in one end.

This one is just yuck. Smoking crack with a bandaid on the end to keep the lips from blistering. Hope it wasn't a used bandaid.

You will notice most of the photos show a 2001 date, well things haven't changed much and crack pipes still look like crack pipes and the crack still looks that off white color.
